How we care for your pet
Time for every pet
We see animals by appointment only, so there’s time to examine your pet properly, answer your questions and never rush.
Gentle handling
Our vets and nurses are experienced and kind. They handle every animal calmly and patiently, especially the nervous ones.
Free to do what’s right
We’re independent and owner-run, so our vets treat what they see, with no corporate targets or outside shareholders. They’ll explain the options, and the costs, before anything is done.
Support on the hard days
From a worrying diagnosis to saying goodbye, we offer kindness, empathy and reassurance at every stage.

A note from Charley and Sharon

When Charley sold the farm, we put our own money into opening a vet clinic here in Essex. We wanted to make vet care more affordable, and to go back to the good old-fashioned way, where vets are free to treat what they see, without corporate targets or outside shareholders to answer to.
It’s taken time, but we’ve built up a wonderful group of clients. Our vets are very experienced, our support staff are fabulous, and they all work brilliantly together. More than anything, they care about the animals in front of them.
We run the clinic as a business, but we set aside part of our profit to help owners who genuinely can’t afford their animal’s treatment, to keep improving the clinic, and to support AA Dog Rescue.
We’re now open three days a week, by appointment, and everyone is welcome. If you know someone who’d like a vet like us, please pass the word.

Second opinions
How second opinions work“We were told euthanasia was the kindest option for our dog Dolly. Animal Angels gave her hope, performed surgery immediately, and saved her life.”
Some of the animals we see have already been given difficult news elsewhere. If you’re not sure, we’re always happy to take a fresh look. We’ll go through your pet’s history, examine them properly and talk honestly about the options.
Sometimes there’s more that can be done. Sometimes there isn’t, and we’ll tell you that kindly.

More from our clientsRosie
“My girl Rosie had her spay here and I cannot thank you enough. You are all so kind, helpful, and made me feel she was completely safe. She healed beautifully and I will 100% recommend you.”
Floki
“Ten out of ten. From a very stressful week to total relief — you calmed, treated, and fixed our Floki when our previous vets failed. Thank you so much.”
Tom
“We took Tom, our AA rescue, for dental surgery. The whole experience was amazing — quick booking, excellent care, and brilliant aftercare advice. We were quoted £1,100 elsewhere, but paid £600 here and everything was completed in one session. Thank you for making quality vet care affordable.”
Lillie
“Thank you to everyone at Animal Angels for the wonderful care you gave our Lillie. You are all amazing and we are so grateful.”

About us

We’re in a black timber building on Burnham Road, just outside the village. We don’t have a fancy reception or waiting room. What we do have is a professional, up-to-date operating theatre, modern equipment including ultrasound, and experienced vets who carry out almost all operations here, including orthopaedics. We only refer for specialist neurology or heart problems.

When it’s time to say goodbye
Saying goodbye to a pet is one of the hardest things you’ll ever do. When the time comes, we’ll give you time, explain each step gently and help you choose the aftercare that feels right.
If you’re not sure whether it’s time, you’re welcome to call us just to talk it through.

Where your money goes
AA Dog RescueAnimal Angels is a small, owner-run business. The fees you pay cover the running of the clinic and pay our vets, support staff and owners. We also set aside part of our profit for three things:
Help for owners who can’t afford treatment
We’re building up a fund so that if someone genuinely can’t afford the treatment their animal needs, we can pay for some of it.
Back into the clinic
We reinvest in the clinic, its equipment and our team.
AA Dog Rescue
We raise money for AA Dog Rescue, which has been saving abandoned dogs from the UK and Spain since 2013.
