Latchingdon’s affordable veterinary care
BBC Essex visited the clinic soon after it opened, to report on affordable pet care in Latchingdon during the cost of living crisis.
Listen on the BBC websiteAnimal Angels is an independent vet clinic on Burnham Road in Latchingdon, owned by Charley Nathan and Sharon Reynolds.

When Charley sold the farm, she and Sharon put their own money into opening a vet clinic here in Essex. They wanted to make vet care more affordable, and to return to the good old-fashioned way, where vets are free to treat what they see, without corporate targets or outside shareholders to answer to.
We work by appointment, so each pet gets the time and attention it needs. Our vets and support staff are experienced and kind, and they’ll talk you through what they find and what your options are, including the costs.
Every animal deserves good care, whatever their owner’s circumstances. Our prices are fair and published for anyone to see, there’s no registration or membership, and everyone is welcome.
The owners
Very experienced, and they carry out almost all operations here, including orthopaedics. We only refer for specialist neurology or heart problems.
A fabulous team who work brilliantly together and share the same view: the animal always comes first.
We don’t have a fancy reception or waiting room. What we do have is everything that matters for your pet’s care, and caring people who are there to treat them.

We’re a Vetsure-accredited practice and can tell you about Vetsure’s pet insurance. We also work with all the leading insurers, and can get pre-authorisation before treatment and help you with your claim.
Animal Angels is a small, owner-run business. The fees you pay cover the running of the clinic and pay our vets, support staff and owners. We also set aside part of our profit for three things:
We’re building up a fund so that if someone genuinely can’t afford the treatment their animal needs, we can pay for some of it.
We reinvest in the clinic, its equipment and our team.
We raise money for AA Dog Rescue, which has been saving abandoned dogs from the UK and Spain since 2013.
Animal Angels started alongside AA Dog Rescue, and we’re now a separate practice.

“We were told euthanasia was the kindest option for our dog Dolly. Animal Angels gave her hope, performed surgery immediately, and saved her life. She is now home, comfortable, and happy. From reception to the vet team, you truly are angels. Thank you for giving our girl a new lease on life.”
Tom
“We took Tom, our AA rescue, for dental surgery. The whole experience was amazing — quick booking, excellent care, and brilliant aftercare advice. We were quoted £1,100 elsewhere, but paid £600 here and everything was completed in one session. Thank you for making quality vet care affordable.”
Rosie
“My girl Rosie had her spay here and I cannot thank you enough. You are all so kind, helpful, and made me feel she was completely safe. She healed beautifully and I will 100% recommend you.”
Floki
“Ten out of ten. From a very stressful week to total relief — you calmed, treated, and fixed our Floki when our previous vets failed. Thank you so much.”
An elderly cat
“Other vets had given us no hope for our elderly cat, but your incredible team gave him a chance. We cannot thank you enough — truly amazing people.”
Lillie
“Thank you to everyone at Animal Angels for the wonderful care you gave our Lillie. You are all amazing and we are so grateful.”
